The TL50 medium-range air defense missile is a medium-range missile system developed by China North Industries Corporation, which is mainly used to protect important targets from air strikes. The main component of the Tianlong 50 air defense missile system is the surface-to-air missile. In 2012, the Tianlong 50 air defense missile system was equipped with the IBIS-150 target detection and tracking radar, which can detect targets within 130 kilometers early and ensure that the missile is launched at the maximum range. The radar is also mounted on the chassis of the car.
The missiles used by the Tianlong 50 air defense system are equipped with solid-fuel motors and are capable of destroying targets at a distance of 3 to 50 kilometers and at an altitude of 30 to 19,800 meters. The flight speed of the missile reaches 1000 m/s. Its structural strength allows the missile to maneuver with an overload of up to 38g. When entering the intended target area, the missile uses an inertial guidance system, and then activates the active radar seeker to help the missile lock and hit the target. To destroy the target, a kill blast warhead is used.
