1 X-Band Dual Polarization Doppler Weather Radar BM-120
System Overview
With its unique ability to detect small-scale weather systems and its operating wavelength characteristics, X-band dual-polarization weather radar plays a unique role in the identification of small-scale strong weather such as small-scale precipitation, hail clouds, tornadoes, and cyclones, and the monitoring of the development of small-scale cloud systems. It is mainly used to perform artificial weather modification, emergency on-site meteorological support and scientific experiment tasks, and provide real-time and accurate weather conditions for disastrous weather forecasts, warnings and scientific research. The system has strong versatility, flexible function expansion, and high cost performance.
System composition
BM-120 double-bias Doppler weather radar is mainly composed of antenna system, feeder system, transmitter, receiver, signal processor system, radar monitoring system, product generation and display system, etc.
Features
The maximum distance for intensity monitoring is 300km, and the quantitative measurement is up to 150km. It can identify nuclear regions with a scale of 2-3 km in hail clouds and tornadoes with a diameter of 5-10 km. Speed measurement up to 150 km, with the function of expanding speed range and eliminating speed ambiguity, the radial speed measurement range is better than ±20 m/s when the distance is up to 150 km, and better than ±32 m/s when the distance is 75 km. Can recede the distance to fold.
The fully coherent dual-polarization pulse Doppler system, the main oscillator amplified transmitter and a high-stable frequency synthesizer ensure that the transmitter has excellent phase noise indicators.
Klystron pulse amplifier chain transmitter with high frequency stability and high spectral purity is adopted.
The antenna system adopts ultra-low sidelobe and narrow beam design to ensure the system's excellent angular resolution and ground object suppression performance.
The servo system uses photoelectric code disc sampling, system closed-loop control and stable DC motor drive to ensure high precision and speed stability.
The receiving system adopts a highly reliable and highly consistent dual-channel digital IF receiver, which provides a strong guarantee for the extraction accuracy of dual-polarization information.
The system has an excellent self-calibration design to ensure the accuracy of data sampling and the realization of dual polarization.
The system is supported by rich and intelligent software and has an open structure. Users can modify it according to the local weather characteristics, and can also easily upgrade or add new weather products developed as plug-ins.
